Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Oregon State University
Deepak Sharma is a Faculty Research Associate in the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University. His research focuses on applied thermal-fluid systems for energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, thermal management, and sustainable water technologies. He leads research on low-grade industrial waste heat recovery, including the development and commercialization of a Thermal Water Pump designed to recover waste heat for useful water heating and pumping without conventional electrical pumping.
Dr. Sharma’s broader expertise spans heat transfer, phase-change systems, experimental diagnostics, water desalination, and AI-enabled system optimization. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications and holds three patents in desalination and thermal management technologies. Through the Ind-US Energy Efficiency Initiative, he is working to connect academic researchers, industry partners, and technology stakeholders to accelerate practical solutions for industrial energy recovery and sustainable thermal systems.
