Biography
Dr. Kumar Nishant Ranjan Sinha is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. His research focuses on AI-enabled diagnostics, prediction, and control of boiling and two-phase thermal systems for energy-efficient thermal management. He develops deep learning frameworks that combine infrared thermography, high-speed visualization, acoustic sensing, and physics-based modeling to infer heat flux, phase distributions, and boiling regimes in real time. His doctoral work demonstrated acoustic-emission-based prediction of boiling regimes and critical heat flux, including adaptive control strategies to extend safe boiling operation beyond CHF. His current postdoctoral work focuses on U-Net and cGAN-based reconstruction of thermal and phase fields in pool boiling and flow boiling experiments.
